In the general casino news this week we see what appears to be some fairly hypocritical and opinionated news stories emanating from no other than Sheldon Adelson who is the CEO of Las Vegas Sands that own casinos in Las Vegas and other parts of the world. Obviously any increase in online casinos may well have an effect on his own business but in the USA it is not so much an increase in online casinos he is worried about but the legalization of them which has been in the casino news at casinos.ie regularly. Mr Adelson however is adamant that his stance against online casinos has nothing to do with his US businesses but more to do with his fear that online casinos will cause addiction and poverty among the young who are on alcohol or drugs and will not have the willpower to resist temptation. He is clear in the casino news to differentiate between adults who dress and go to a casino to have something to eat and play the tables for a while and youth who sit at home drinking with their friends and possibly out of control at an online casino pointing out of course that no land based casino would allow someone to gamble who was not in control of themselves. Casinos.ie has some experience with casinos and have seen plenty of instances of somebody gambling who was clearly out of control and anyway good online casinos have plenty of systems to track play and identify possible problems. Mr Adelson continues to defend his position in the casino news by drawing attention to the fact that only a small part of his business is dependent on US casinos therefore online casinos will not affect his business dramatically. Despite what his opinions are, online casinos have a place in society and should not be banned because there are a few irresponsible people around.
