It may not be online casinos but in the sports gambling world the online gambling company Betfair has published sparkling results for the recent quarter ending July 2014 thanks to record betting on the World Cup. According to casino news reports although revenues were 30% up on the quarter the remuneration for at least two of the company bosses was less well received in particular a £1.3 million package for the Chief Executive Breon Corcoran and just short of £1 million for CFO Alex Gersch with almost one third of shareholders voting against. Betfair has recently made investments in online casinos in New Jersey and Italy and the company says it faces challenges in that online casino market which is unfamiliar territory. Part of the problem with that online casino operation is that part of the original deal in allowing outside companies to participate was that they should be partnered with a land based New Jersey casino which Betfair did with Trump Plaza but unfortunately Trump Plaza is closing down. New Jerseys Division of gaming enforcement has allowed Betfair to continue operating the online casino buut it may prove difficult without a US based partner. In other online casino news it has been reported that Paddy Power casino has a new Chief Executive in the form of Andy McCue who will replace Patrick Kennedy at the end of the year. Mr McCue is no newcomer to the online casino world having been at Paddy Power for 8 years already. Also reported in the online casino news is an upcoming poker match between two very famous sports stars namely Ronaldo and Rafael Nadal. The match which will be part of a Pokerstars event in London in November should be interesting as Ronaldo is looking for revenge having been beaten in a previous event at the European Poker Tour in Prague.
