Caribbean stud is an interesting casino game

Although Caribbean Stud is a poker game it is quite different from the type of poker played in tournaments or in cash games in the online casinos such as Texas Hold’em or Omaha as it is simply played against the dealer and there is no bluffing or raising for large amounts such as the “all in” bet which actually makes Caribbean stud an interesting casino game for players that are new to poker as it will teach them the value of hands. The game of Caribbean Stud is simple to play; it starts with the player placing an ante bet which can be varied hand by hand within the table limits of the online casino whereupon 5 cards are dealt to the player and the dealer but only one of the dealers cards is face up. At this point the Caribbean stud player needs to decide whether their hand is good enough to beat the dealer; if you think it is then the player must place an additional bet equal to exactly twice the original ante bet at which point the dealers are cards are exposed and the hands compared. Alternatively the player may simply fold the hand and lose the ante. Under normal circumstances there is a 50/50 chance of the player winning but of course online casino games always have an edge in favour of the casino and in this case there is one additional important point and that is called a “qualifying hand” which means that the dealer must have an Ace-King or better for the raise bet to be paid out. Therefore if the player has a Caribbean stud hand of two pairs and places a raise bet but the dealer has a Queen high hand then the player wins the ante bet at 1:1 but the raise bet is simply returned which gives the house the edge it needs.
