Paddy Power preparing for online poker in the USA

In the Irish casino news this week there are a number of interesting things to report not the least of which is the positive statements at the AGM of Paddy Power where in Ireland the amount staked fell by some 4% compared to the previous period but net revenue rose 15%. Paddy Power chief executive Patrick Kennedy is also in the Irish casino news for his comments about the possible legalisation of online poker in some US states which we have also reported on with reference to some of the other online casinos that we list on site. Mr Kennedy would not be drawn on revealing which possible partners they were talking to but assured investors that they would not be left behind although the likes of Bwin and 888.com do have a head start. It is believed that California and New Jersey might be among the front runners for legalisation along with Nevada. Closer to home Richard Quirke whose ambitious plans for a huge casino in Tipperary were refused is also in the Irish casino news is to submit a new planning application for a smaller scale casino with the focus being turned to equestrian.
